Abstract

Title: Acute effect of a single exposure to simulated sunlight on physical and cognitive performance in military personnel Objective: The aim of this thesis was to examine the acute effect of a single exposure to simulated sunlight on selected parameters of physical and cognitive performance in military personnel. Methods: This thesis is a theoretical-empirical study employing quantitative research methods. The research sample consisted of 21 male students enrolled in the Military Physical Education program at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, Charles University (22 ± 1.8 years; 181.1 ± 5.9 cm; 82.2 ± 8.3 kg), all of whom met the inclusion criteria. The study was conducted over a period of 15 days, during which each participant completed two testing sessions spaced one week apart. Participants were divided into two groups. Following an initial week of sleep and physical activity monitoring, the first testing session was conducted. Each participant first completed a set of tests (Pre-test), was then exposed to one of the experimental conditions (simulated sunlight at an intensity of 8000 lx, or a control break), and subsequently repeated the same set of tests (Post-test). The testing protocol included subjective measures (Karolinska Sleepiness Scale and Positive and Negative Affect...
