This policy describes how The Sunlight Report handles information when you visit sunlight.report or contact us.
You can read the site without an account. We do not run advertising, sell personal information, or use advertising trackers.
Visits and analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand which pages people read and how they reach the site. It records information such as the page visited, referring website, approximate location, browser, and device type. We see aggregated visit statistics.
Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies to count visitors. It uses a temporary identifier derived from a request, which Vercel says is discarded after 24 hours. That limit applies to the identifier, not to all analytics data. Vercel's analytics privacy documentation explains the details.
The site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics. Its browser script reports page views and performance measurements, such as loading times, to Cloudflare. Cloudflare's Web Analytics documentation describes the service.
Hosting and security
Vercel hosts the site, and Cloudflare delivers and protects it. These services process technical information, including IP addresses and request details, to serve pages, prevent abuse, and investigate errors. This is separate from the visit statistics we see in the analytics dashboard.
Their handling of this information is described in Vercel's privacy notice and Cloudflare's privacy policy. These providers may process information outside the country where you live.
Search and chat
Site search runs in your browser. We do not send the words you type to a search service or an AI provider.
Chat is not accepting questions yet. Opening the chat page records a usage event on our server; it does not submit a conversation.
Messages you send us
If you email [email protected], we receive your email address and whatever information you include in your message. Cloudmail, our email system on Cloudflare, receives and stores the message. It also uses Cloudflare Workers AI to classify incoming mail. We use correspondence to reply, investigate corrections, and follow up on research suggestions, and may retain it for those purposes.
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete information you have sent us by emailing that address. Please include enough detail for us to find the message. We may need to confirm that the request comes from the person concerned, and may need to keep information to meet a legal obligation.
Links and changes
Links to studies and other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and its date. Privacy questions can go to [email protected].
